Laura Morgan was a Girl Scout growing up in her hometown of Richmond, Virginia. While she enjoyed everything about Girl Scouting, two very special memories are camping and visiting Juliette Gordon Low’s birthplace in Savannah, Georgia. All those wonderful girlhood experiences in Girl Scouting came flooding back when she met GSCCC CEO Tracy Keller five years ago and became reconnected to the organization that meant so much to her in her youth. She was asked to join the Board and soon became the Board’s Philanthropy Committee Chair. Laura also recently joined the Investment Committee where her expertise as a Senior Vice President at TowneBank is truly appreciated.
“In my current role, I use my knowledge of the financial industry, as well as my connections in the community, to support the Girl Scout mission,” Laura said. “I am looking forward to continuing to work with my fellow board and committee members, as well as some of the exciting events we have planned. Also, cookie season of course!”
In addition to sharing her expertise and talents, Laura is looking forward to attending program events and supporting girls. “I feel it is important that girls have a place to learn and challenge themselves in a supportive environment. I think many of the skills learned in Girl Scouting can help girls be successful in whatever they choose to do in life.”
To support this belief, Laura joined the Juliette Gordon Low Society (JGLS). This special group of friends share their legacy to create a brighter future by investing in girls who change the world. When you become a member of this distinguished group and leave a gift in your will, trust, or other account for Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast, you are empowering the future while supporting the values you cherish. Laura joined the JGLS because she wants to ensure that any girl who wants to be involved in Girl Scouting has the opportunity to do so for years to come. We thank her for this beautiful commitment to our Movement.
When Laura is not busy at work at TowneBank, doing activities with her LEAD757 Class of 2023 or working on projects with the GSCCC Board, she enjoys time with her son Carter and husband Wayne and their family dog, Zeke. She dreams that many years from now, when it is time to retire, she can do that at one of her favorite spots — Jamaica!
With the support and generosity of donors like Laura and our corporate partners, we can continue our mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts of Colonial Coast creates the best leadership development experiences for all girls in our council area. Girl Scouting inspires girls to dream big. The skills they learn today will make it possible for them to accomplish their dreams, and become the women leaders of tomorrow. Learn how you can support this valuable work.
