We’re sharing this review of Phenom as written by Girl Scout Abbey F., a Cadette in Troop 1400 from SU 250 in Virginia Beach. It’s a girl’s-eye view of an amazing event!
This summer I attended the Phenom Girl Scout Convention that was held in Disney World. My mom and I purchased a one day ticket and discovered how much there was to do. I had a blast walking around the Hall of Experiences as well as the different activity rooms.
In the Hall of Experiences there were a lot of stations set up with different activities offered. Some of my favorite stations were a friendship bracelet making station, a football, soccer, and basketball inflatable station, and a local farm station. I enjoyed making a friendship bracelet. I then swapped it with another Girl Scout. At the inflatable station I shot baskets, kicked a soccer ball, and threw a football. At the local farm station I was given a little cup of milk that I had to shake for seven to ten minutes until it turned into butter. Once I had butter I could then taste it with crackers.
Some other stations included checking out a Coast Guard boat, NASA brought a moon rock to touch, and I got to see the inside of the Blue Origin Spacecraft. I made soap, painted a Girl Scout ornament, designed a Girl Scout bag, collected a lot of S.W.A.P.S. and “visited” the World Association of Girl Guide and Girl Scout (WAGGGS) World Centers in London, Switzerland, Mexico, and India.
Outside the Hall of Experiences rooms were set up for different activities. I explored the Oasis and Fun Zone rooms. In the Oasis there were a lot of games, arts and crafts. Some of the games were Twister, board games, video games and card games. Some of the arts and crafts were friendship bracelets, a rainbow loom, and a phone holder. In the Fun Zone there was a giant Lite-Brite, a bunch of Lego stations and two gigantic coloring pages. There were also gigantic coloring pages throughout the halls of the convention for Girl Scouts to color as they walked by.
When I first arrived at the Convention, and throughout the day, Girl Scouts were exchanging their SWAPS. (If you go in the future, bring a lot of SWAPS.) I ran out of SWAPS in the first five minutes, but it was a lot of fun. I met Girl Scouts from Florida, New York, Texas, Georgia, and all over the US. I met and spoke with the President of Little Brownie Bakers, and the CEOs from Dakota Horizons Council, Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho, and our own Tracy Keller. I also met the new Girl Scout National Board President Noorain Khan, that was so cool.
This was a really cool experience and I think you should go in 2026. I don’t know where it will be yet, but I am sure it will be a fun place.
