Growing up in Philadelphia, Amy Coyne spent many meaningful years as a Girl Scout. It was those memories that led her to volunteer as an adult. “I chose to participate in one of the poorer districts [in Lancaster, PA] and had the opportunity to meet and work with many girls who needed an escape from their daily lives and tough environments. It was a place for them to be comfortable and escape even if only for a short while. It was an amazing opportunity to work with girls where their family dynamic didn’t encourage them to dream big. We had the opportunity to instill courage and encourage them to dream bigger.” Amy led Brownies, Juniors and Cadettes in Lancaster, and served as Neighborhood Chair (back when Service Units were called Neighborhoods). She has also volunteered on several committees with Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri before coming to GSCCC.
In her professional life outside of Girl Scouts, Amy is the CEO of Revision Military Ltd., the largest supplier of ballistic and laser protective eyewear to US and allied militaries and law enforcement agencies. “My college and grad school education were in textiles and apparel. I worked for companies like Polartec, Gap and Kmart. Then in 2007, I made the leap from fashion into the defense sector and will never look back. I have a huge amount of pride in helping to protect those who protect us by providing products that help them stay warm, safe and alive.”
“I have been incredibly fortunate to have had great mentors, teachers, instructors and bosses who have influenced me throughout my career, drove me to excel, took a chance on me and gave me opportunities that enabled me to set my sights and career ambitions very high,” Amy shared. That’s the type of champion and investor she wants to be for girls today.
Amy serves on GSCCC’s Board of Directors and is a member of the Board’s Philanthropy Committee which includes her role as chair of the “Camp is Calling” Virtual Silent Auction. The annual auction benefits GSCCC’s camp properties; in particular this year we are raising funds for the Enmeier Center at Camp Skimino. This year’s event runs from April 30-May 6, 2023.
