Congratulations to Girl Scout Cadette Kaydence R. who was selected from a national pool of applicants to serve on the National Girl Scout Advisory Board to the Girl Scouts of the USA! The National Girl Scout Advisory Board is a group of middle and high school Girl Scouts who make recommendations, contribute to key initiatives, and influence decision-making processes at our national office. Advisory board members develop leadership skills, collaborate with decision-makers at GSUSA, and grow skills to prepare for college and future leadership opportunities.
Kaydence joined the Movement as a Girl Scout Daisy and has been totally engaged ever since. She has earned Girl Scout Summit Awards for each of her Girl Scout grade levels and has earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest award earned by a Girl Scout Junior. The Girl Scout Silver Award is now on her radar.
While taking action as a Girl Scout, she has partnered to help with projects that have benefited several community groups that include: ForKids; the Peace Corps; Wreaths Across America; Chesapeake Animal Services; Oceana Stables; Autumn Care Rehabilitation Center; the City of Chesapeake; Saint Paul’s Church; and other organizations. She also joined troop mates in volunteering to help at the NATO Festival and Parade. They designed, created and then hosted a parade float for the country of North Macedonia in this year’s festivities.
With friends in her troop, Kaydence is currently working on a Tree Promise Take Action Project, making headway on earning the Girl Scout Way Badge, and has nearly completed requirements for the Global Action Award. Of course, she has made time to have plenty of Girl Scout fun along the way and regularly participates in service unit and Council events, which have included three program sleepovers: the Virginia Air & Space Science Center Camp-in; the behind-the-scenes night at Busch Gardens; and Girls Night Out with the Tides post-game for night owls.
Kaydence is an honor student at Greenbrier Middle School. She loves softball, horseback riding, swimming, and skateboarding. Apart from values instilled in her as a Girl Scout, she says values and lessons learned from being a child within a military family have served her well. Her mother and Girl Scout leader, Jeannette Rincon, is presently serving in the United States Coast Guard (23+ years), and her stepfather presently serves on active duty in the United States Navy (16+ years).
“I am excited to serve on the National Girl Scout Advisory Board,” Kaydence said. “I have a special interest in learning and growing to become a good leader so I can better help others.”
Congratulations, Kaydence!
