Camp Rocky Ledges is a 154 acre property located in Milton, WV. It is home to several service unit camps and activities, troop overnights, and council programs and trainings. This property features 10 miles of hiking trails, a pond for canoeing or fishing, and an amphitheater.

Local area attractions include Beech Fork Lake, Camden Park, Blenko Glass, Huntington Mall, Pullman Square, Heritage Farm and Village and the Huntington Museum of Art.

Camp Rocky Ledges boasts many options for overnight accommodations including 6 platform tents and 6 half cabins each with 4 cots. Each site has a shelter, fire pit, and water station. Huckleberry House is a screened in unit house with a stove, refrigerator, and fire place. Hilltop Unit sleeps 10 to 15 and has a full kitchen and bathroom.

One of the highlights of this property, the Lodge at Rocky Ledges, plays host to one of our most popular council programs, Camp Creepy. Heated for year round usage, the lodge also has two flush toilets, a shower, an inviting wood burning fireplace, and a sizable full kitchen. The Lodge offers a large activities area and is spacious enough for 30 to 40 overnight guests.

In December of 2020, Camp Rocky Ledges was revamped with a brand new shower house that includes four showers and washroom facilities. See photos of the upgrades below!

Camp Giscowheco is a 111 acre property located in Triadelphia, WV. It plays host to service unit meetings and activities, troop overnights, and council programs and trainings. This property features 2 miles of hiking trails and a generous open field for enjoying hours of kickball, whiffle ball, volleyball, badminton, or other fun outdoor games.

Camp Gisco, as it is affectionately called, includes a large dining hall with full kitchen. Adjacent to the dining hall is a fire circle, perfect for outdoor cooking or sharing S’mores with friends. You’ll also find an in ground pool and shower house with 4 showers and toilets.

This property offers two platform tent locations, each with eight tent units featuring four cots a piece. Camp Gisco also has eight half cabins with 4 cots in each cabin. Each camp site hosts a unit house, water station, and fire pit.

Camp Giscowheco’s lodge is heated for year round usage and offers a full kitchen, two showers, three toilets and a wood burning fireplace. Spacious enough for indoor activities, this lodge can sleep 25 to 30 overnight guests.

Local area attractions include Oglebay Park, The Good Zoo at Oglebay, Wheeling Park, Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum and Eckhart House.

Looking for a camping experience with more of the creature comforts of home? Our Girl Zone Urban Camp property in Charleston, WV offers a great room with comfortable couches and chairs, flat screen TV, Blueray DVD player, Wii gaming system, board games and a climbing wall. Its roomy kitchen is perfect for preparing food as a group with 2 sets of appliances, cookware, dishes and silverware.

Overnight guests at the Girl Zone can comfortably stay in our two climate controlled bunkrooms complete with six sets of bunkbeds and a relaxing private chaperone room each. Bathrooms are indoors and have five showers and five flushing toilets with a large changing area for each bunkroom.

The Girl Zone features an enclosed outdoor activity area equipped with a beautiful fire pit and gas grill perfect for outdoor cooking and quality time around the camp fire.

Local area attractions include the Clay Center, Cultural Center, State Capital, Memorial Ice Arena, Charleston Town Center, and the Charleston Civic Center.

Reservation FAQs

How early can I make a reservation?

Our camp properties open for reservations one year ahead of the reservation date. You can keep making reservations up to three weeks before you want to camp.

Are camps open for use all year?

Absolutely! All of our camp properties are open the full year. During the coldest months, certain sections of camp may be closed for safety and presevation of equipment. 

Do you rent your camps to outside groups (non-Girl Scouts)?

Yes. Nonprofits and other organizations can use our camp properties. 

How many people does each unit hold?

It depends on the unit. Each unit and building’s capacity is determined by the number of people that unit will sleep and the number of beds in the unit. We ask that you do not exceed this capacity, as it is designed with safety in mind.

Can we sleep in the dining hall or lodge?

Absolutely! You will need one adult volunteer who has taken the self-study called Camping In. After completing that self-study, you must turn in a request for certification. 

In addition, an adult with your troop/group will need to have a current First Aid/CPR certification. 

All adults staying overnight with the troop/group must have a current Girl Scout membership and background check on file with the council. 

Extra insurance must be taken out for any non-registered children that you might allow to participate in your camping experience.

Are there special requirements to stay overnight in a tent or half-tent unit?

You will need is one adult volunteer who has taken the self-study called  Camping In. After completing that self-study, you must turn in a request for certification. You will also need to have an adult who has taken Camping Out. These courses are generally overed in the spring and summer. 

In addition, an adult with your troop will need to have a current First Aid/CPR certification. 

All adults staying overnight with the troop/group must have a current Girl Scout membership and background check on file with the council. 

Extra insurance must be taken out for any non-registered children that you might allow to participate in your camping experience.

When is my reservation processed?

Reservations are processed online in the order they are received. As soon as you pay your deposit, the units and activities you reserved can no longer be rented by another party.

What if I need to change my reservation?

Reservations can be changed by the person who created until three weeks from the reservation date. To change a reservation, contact our customer care team at (304) 345-7722 or customercare@bdgsc.org. 

What if I need to cancel my reservation?

Reservations cancelled 30 days or more before the reservation date will receive a full refund. Reservations cancelled less than 30 days before the reservation date will not receive a refund. To cancel a reservation contact our Customer Care team at (304) 345-7722 or customercare@bdgsc.org.

What do I need to do in order to use the fire pit at the Girl Zone?

If one adult has taken the Camping Out training, then you are good to go and build a fire. If not, an adult from your troop or group can complete the self-study called  Fire Building Safety and submit a request for certification.
